Implementer’s Toolkit for National Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation Strategy and Action Plan (HWC-NAP) aims to assist practitioners to ensure that the measures placed in the HWC-NAP are implemented effectively and efficiently. It provides the required background and understanding for the implementation of the HWC-NAP and guides responsible agencies in taking action to reach the goals and results placed in the strategy. While the toolkit is fully based on the HWC-NAP, it guides the necessary further steps to create change and prepare the ground for harmonious human-wildlife coexistence.
The toolkit helps all implementing partners and stakeholders to identify their roles and responsibilities and demystifies the HWC-NAP in a non-academic language. While the HWC-NAP provides the national level strategies for HWC mitigation, this toolkit guides all national level interventions, including the development of HWC-SAPs and HWC-MAPs.
While interventions necessary to achieve outputs and goals are described in detail and tools for monitoring of indicators are given, it also highlights lessons learned and best practices of HWC mitigation in India. The toolkit provides an assembly of instruments that can be used collectively or separately by various agencies involved. This pack of information and tools is progressively evolving and regular updates are envisaged.
